Southampton – Compared to other teams in it, chances Southampton to finish top four in the Premier League final standings is smaller. However, the Saints have not given up.
Southampton is now ranked sixth with the acquisition of 53 points. Above them was a Liverpool (54 points), Manchester United (59), Arsenal (60), Manchester City (61), and Chelsea (67).
Southampton indeed still have a chance to penetrate the top four because there are still eight games remaining until the end of the season. However, their fate will also depend on the results obtained other teams.
“Realistically, it would be difficult (to finish top four),” said the manager of Southampton, Ronald Koeman, as quoted by Soccerway.
“There is a gap in the form of the difference in points. But, if we win the next two or three games, we can fight it,” said Koeman.
“I think it’s more for teams bigger, but we will try. This season is fantastic and will be a special season for the club if we won a ticket to European competition,” he said.
In order to maintain his chances, Southampton will try to win when treated Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday (04/04/2015) tomorrow.
